Biography
Clyde D. Finlay was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where he currently resides there and has retired from the Manitoba Justice Department in 2007. In 2007, Clyde graduated from the University of Manitoba in Fine Arts. While working full time and going to university part time Clyde continued his passion in the visual arts by taking workshops, art camps and making art presentations to the art community in different capacities through art organizations, art students and teaching art classes.
Clyde works in various mediums, but has continued his passion in the medium of oil, his paintings are in the style of abstraction, which can be seen in his art gallery on this website and links. Clyde also enjoys landscape painting in numerous styles, as well as drawing of figures and portraits.
Clyde's art work has been featured and exhibited in Canada, United States and in parts of Europe. As well Clyde has had feature art work in articles in Winnipeg Free Press on numerous occasion's; as an example; ( Thursday, August 26, 2004, "Life and Arts"). Up town Magazine, September 9, 2004, Preview: "Best Foot Forward", Feature: " The Work of Outworks Gallery Artists", Preview: Opening of " Blind Gestures" a Solo Show. Clyde has also had numerous clips in the Where Magazine, Winnipeg Free Press, Winnipeg Uniter, The Manitoban, Up Town Magazine, Style Magazine. As well, Clyde has numerous Online interviews with SLAM, by Terri Lloyd; Manhattan Artist Coach Blog by Renee Phillips of Manhattan International Magazine and numerous interviews with Global Television, Shaw Cable Television ( Jeremy Valance, T.V. Poducer).
Clyde has participated in research and study that has importance to excursions he took with the University of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. These studies took place in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles ( 2001-2008) and across Canada.
