Artist Statement

" Emotions Crying "
Oil on Canvas
4'x 6'
Though my experience in life, I have found that being a visual artist is a blessing and an opportunity to leave a mark on the world. To be able to express on my canvas my visions, emotions, spiritual experiences, I create and transform abstraction in my mind and soul. I leave the viewer with the opportunity to interpret what I've created and make it thier own.
The abstract umbrella I use is not representational of our world. Through geometric form, shapes, powerful colours, I splash my paint brushes on canvas to create my next series of abstraction charaterized by spontaneous and individual expression. There is freedom of spirit, fragmentation, an edgy style, yet through non-figurative and lyrical expression my techniques are discovered.
The use of oils is my preference in medium, but I do use acrylics when painting on canvas. I often use watercolour, pen and ink, with other mixed-media when doing small scale drawings or paintings.
My inspiration comes from some of the Greatest artists in our history. The likes of Hannes Meyer, Paul Klee, Paul Valery, Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrain and the Bauhaus movement ( 1919 - 1933 ) are but a few.
